HOLLISTER
There was another minor earthquake early this morning in the same area south of Tres Pinos along the San Andreas Fault that has experienced a flurry of activity in the past month.
Today’s earthquake at 1:48 a.m. also was seven miles south of Tres Pinos and 12 miles south/southeast of Hollister – in the same area as more than a dozen other minor temblors in the past month, according to the U.S. Geological Survey Web site.
Most recently before today, there were two earthquakes south of Tres Pinos on Saturday – both magnitude-3.1 – that occurred five seconds apart. The two temblors also hit seven miles south of Tres Pinos and 12 miles south/southeast of Hollister. They followed a magnitude-3.7 earthquake that shook the Tres Pinos area shortly at about 4:20 p.m. Feb. 5, with no reported damage from any of the shaking.
