Anzar High School in San Juan Bautista is offering an evening woodshop class to community members through the end of November thanks to support from the Community Foundation for San Benito County.
Instructor Dan Faurot-Daniels invites community members 14 and up to join the class, which offers instruction in workshop safety, use and care of tools, types of wood, and how wood can be cut/joined to make things beautiful and useful.
There’s an $85 one-time fee for county residents and a $185 fee for non-county participants.
The class began September 26 with basic box-making and will progress to simple carving and an introduction to woodturning on the lathe.
Participants will learn to use all major power tools in the woodshop as well as many hand tools.
Classes are held Tuesday evenings from 4 to 6 p.m. through November 28, 2017 in Woodshop Room 403 at Anzar High School, 2000 San Juan Highway in San Juan Bautista.
