Dear Editor:

In the continued controversy regarding the Aromas School’s principal, Mary-Ann Tucker, statements have been made characterizing the role played by bilingual teachers at the school in the decision of the governing board to not renew her contract.

Aromas School’s bilingual teachers cannot be lumped together or labeled. Aromas’ teachers have not taken a collective position, either as a staff or as teachers in the bilingual program, regarding the Board’s decision.

Our goal for Aromas School is to build a culture in which all adults are committed to the success of all students.

This prolonged controversy is damaging us as individuals, our program, and the cohesiveness of our school. We hope for the wisdom to heal the rifts that have occurred in our educational community and to work positively together in the changes we face.
