“We didn’t know Bellarmine didn’t have a wrestler there,” said assistant coach Dave Salcedo. “We didn’t want to throw him to the wolves.”

Robert Glashan went 2-2 with a fifth-place finish in the 112-pound class for the Balers.

Luis Baracio (at 125) Andrew Sandaval (at 130) and Steven Gonzalez (at 152) each finished in second place with 2-1 records.

Gonzalez came up a couple points short in the final against his opponent from Gilroy.

James Amaral in the 135-weight class finished 1-2. Nick Dain, who anchored the net for the water polo team, also finished 1-2 in the 189 class after a couple close losses.

Dave Stagliotti, at 189, had a couple byes before facing the same wrestler from Palma who defeated Dain.
