The San Benito baseball team held on for a 5-4 win at Salinas Tuesday, with reliever Bryan Granger earning the victory in three innings of work and Tyler Provost recording the save.

Taking a 2-1 lead after one inning, ‘Balers starter Jacob Eichhorn was pulled from the game following the third frame as Salinas outscored San Benito 3-2 in the inning. Eichhorn was not charged with any earned runs, however, and finished with four strikeouts and one walk while allowing six hits. San Benito had three errors in the game.

Ricky Garcia and Isaak Ramos both hit doubles for two RBIs each for the ‘Balers, who also scored a run on an error, one of five by Salinas.

The victory keeps San Benito in the hunt for a Tri-County Athletic League title, as the team improved to 4-1 in league and 8-3-1 overall. Palma is currently first in the TCAL at 6-1 while Gilroy is in second at 5-1.

Salinas is in fourth place in league at 3-2 and will come to Hollister for a 4 p.m. game Friday.
