Lunch activities offer fun
San Benito High School celebrated the onset of the holiday
season last week with its annual Winter BLT (Baler Lunch Time) on
Friday, Dec. 5. The extended lunch period featured dozens of food
booths at which various school clubs sold food and drinks to raise
money. The BLT offered a number of interactive games and contests
including the popular
”
Pie-A-Teacher
”
booth, in which students could throw whipped cream pies into the
faces of teachers who agreed to be subject to the humiliation.
Steven Andrade won the egg nog chug, downing a quart of the holiday
drink faster than his counterparts.

Other activities included the Human Gift Wrap, a timed event in which pairs of students raced against one another to see who could wrap students in gift wrap the quickest; and a pie-eating contest. The BLT had a more serious purpose as well, as the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior classes placed donated toys under class Christmas trees perched in the campus quad. Members of the Hollister Fire Department collected the toys for distribution as part of the annual Toys for Tots program.
