“We played with a lot of effort and hustle, which I was very pleased with,” said Baler coach Tom Dean. Jennifer Anaya played a good game at the point guard position without any turnovers, Dean said.

Mallorie Wilson had a good game on both sides of the ball. She had 11 points, nine rebounds and a blocked shot.

Trisha Lee was the high point scorer with 16 even though King City went with a box-and-one defense on her from the middle of the first quarter on.

Courtney Almaguer had a good defensive game with eight rebounds and one steal.

Ashley Patton and Crystina Osborne also played very well on defense.

San Benito heads up to Oak Grove for a 16-team tournament Monday. The first game is against Castilleja (4-2).

“It should be a tough game as they are very much improved this year,” Dean said. “This tournament should tell us a lot about where we are this year.”
