For more than six innings Tuesday, the San Benito baseball team couldn’t get a hit against North Salinas’ Isaias Mendez.

But with one out in the seventh inning – trailing 2-0 ¬– the Balers finally found an offensive attack.

Starting with a one-out double by Jacob Tonascia, San Benito rallied for three runs in the last inning to stay undefeated in league play with a 3-2 win over the Vikings.

Following Tonascia’s double, Craig Slibsager scorched a triple to put San Benito on the board. Pinch hitter Dalan Hoskins tied the game with a one-out single.

Eventually, with two-outs and Jose Guzman at third base, Michael Breen won the game for San Benito with a single.

“It was a good game for us,” manager Billy Aviles said. “The kids battled and this will make us a better team.”

On the mound, senior Anthony Ocampo pitched well, allowing one hit through six innings.

The Balers host Alvarez at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Through two weeks of league play, the Balers are 4-0 and 6-2 overall. San Benito has won six-straight games.
