On Aug. 16, Hollister Police officers responded to Evelyns Drive on a call of a man allegedly making terrorist threats seen outside the victim’s home. Police arrived and contacted Anthony Fink, 18. He was found in possession of a loaded firearm and arrested on numerous felony charges. Fink was booked into the San Benito County Jail on violations of possessing a loaded firearm with the intent to commit a felony, carrying a concealed loaded firearm, carrying a loaded firearm in a public place and making terrorist threats.
Convicted ex-cop Ray Wood has a safety net – courtesy of taxpayers and his own contributions toward the state retirement system – to help pay off the restitution he owes for embezzling from the local police union.
The Hollister Police Officers Association voted June 25 to officially endorse an extension of the city’s general fund sales tax. The vote came two weeks after the Hollister Fire Fighters Union voted to pursue a public safety tax of their own and come out against the general fund sales tax extension.
Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a male suspected of stealing clothes from the Hi Outlet on Tres Pinos Road in Hollister, according to police.
The president of the Hollister police union called former Sgt. Ray Wood’s expected six-month sentence for embezzlement “fair” and stressed the organization has addressed lacking oversight that allowed the thefts to occur.
While it appears as though former sheriff candidate and Hollister police Sgt. Ray Wood will receive a fair penalty of six months in jail for embezzling from the officers' union, it is also good to see that same union has addressed its lacking oversight on financial matters.
