Judges' opinion says state cannot require cities to make

In a county supervisors meeting this week, the board decided in a 3-2 vote not to support a possible ballot measure by the California State Association of Counties that would guarantee counties realignment funding through a constitutional amendment.

The San Benito County Board of Supervisors added an urgency item to the Dec. 20 agenda after Jeff Gaffney, the district superintendent for Hollister Hills, spoke during the public comment period about the termination of the Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Commission’s deputy director.

As Hollister officials await word on the future of redevelopment agencies in California, one likely outcome remains clear locally: The city's own RDA will have relatively few discretionary dollars to spend in the final 12 years of allowed program activity.
