For the second year in a row, the 11-12 Hollister All-Star season ended in the Section 5 championship game, this time losing to Quito 10-6 Wednesday in Los Gatos.
After a bad hop on a ground ball turned into a 3-run Scotts Valley double and a lost Hollister lead in Saturday’s first round Section 5 tournament game in Los Gatos, All-Star manager Dave Marquez turned to six players with tournament experience.
The 11-12 National All-Stars were sent down to the elimination bracket Thursday, falling to Hartnell 2-0 in Gonzales. Starter Ryan Jameson threw well for Hollister, throwing a complete game. Hartnell, though, scored two runs in the first inning on a 2-run home run. Afterward, Jameson controlled the game. At the plate, Hollister struggled to get on base. The All-Star team finished with four hits - two by Mason Marquez, one by Isaiah Bueno and Mason Marquez.
