San Benito County supervisors moved $48,000 from the general fund to the Cienega Road Realignment Fund when they approved the 2016-17 budget during their Aug. 9 meeting. The move was a response to backfill eight years of funding that was never transferred from the sheriff’s budget.
Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area celebrated its 40th anniversary Saturday with free day-use access, history talks, guided tours, music and a parade. There were also free poker runs on the lower and upper ranch for the dirt bikes and ATVs, and for the 4x4 Off-Highway Vehicles. Winners received free annual passes.
