The San Benito County Health and Human Services Agency’s Public Health Services staff issued a health advisory for those who will be enjoying recreational swimming or other water activities as summer nears.
Pinnacles National Park has a partial advisory in place in areas of the park where birds of prey are nesting. In January, park staff instituted a partial advisory in an area where a prairie falcon pair is nesting. Climbs are still open on Discovery Wall. The advisory will remain through June or July. Guests are encouraged to check with a ranger or to check the climbing information bulletin board as they plan for climbing or hikes.
This is an old tip that someone reminded me of several weeks ago. Many golfers tilt and turn their heads while at the address position. This is an issue because golfers tend to start their back swing in the same direction their heads are tilted.
We can learn balance and posture for our golf swing from other sports. In golf, the address position is a very athletic ready position. In the position, golfers bend at their hips and knees while keeping their back straight. Weight should be balanced on the balls of golfer’s feet.

Those passing through Starbucks on First Street and Wren Avenue for their morning lattes were taken aback when the coffee shop’s parking lot turned into a blood-spattered scene around 7:30 a.m. Thursday. The owner of a pit bull fled the scene after his dog allegedly attacked a smaller dog in the parking lot, giving it serious injuries that led to its euthanization, and sending its owner to the hospital.
