For the sixth-consecutive year, professional bull riders will make their way to San Benito County on Sept. 8, but this year’s Hollister bull ridding festivities will be slightly different.
It was a long wait for Cash Robinson coming into the final day of the 79th annual San Benito County Saddle Horse Show & Rodeo at Bolado Park on Sunday.

Four local young women will vie for the title of Miss San Benito Rodeo 2012 this weekend in the event that is a precursor to the annual San Benito County Saddle Horse Show and Rodeo.
As I was driving down the road last week, I couldn’t help but notice just how green the grass was. It was such a bright, bold green, it was just beautiful. Today, as I was driving down the road with just one week with no rain, I can already tell the grass is starting to turn. Mother Nature really is amazing if you just take a minute to look at things. The wildflowers are still in bloom and the grass is still green, but boy can it turn quickly. Enjoy it now as it will be gone pretty soon.
What’s that old saying, April showers bring May flowers? Well, it sure is happening in South County. We were blessed with almost two inches of rain last week. Mother Nature sure works in mysterious ways, just when you think you’re not going to get another drop of rain for the year, she gives you buckets of rain to keep the grass a growing. Whew, what a relief!
Well, it's about time. We finally had a nice round of showers down here in South County. We couldn't wait on Mother Nature much longer and she finally came through. The grass is already greener down here and folks are in a lot better mood.
Well, I hope that by the time you're reading this column that we have had a few days of rain. It's the middle of January and we have had less than two inches of rain since July. Weather forecasters have predicted a wet weekend so let's hope they're right.
