SALINAS - Already holding a 3-0 lead in the third inning of Saturday’s District 9 quarterfinals game, the 9-10 Hollister American All-Star team was pulling away from their cross-town rivals Hollister National in Salinas.
The 11-12 National All-Stars were sent down to the elimination bracket Thursday, falling to Hartnell 2-0 in Gonzales. Starter Ryan Jameson threw well for Hollister, throwing a complete game. Hartnell, though, scored two runs in the first inning on a 2-run home run. Afterward, Jameson controlled the game. At the plate, Hollister struggled to get on base. The All-Star team finished with four hits - two by Mason Marquez, one by Isaiah Bueno and Mason Marquez.
The 2012 Little League All-Star season kicked off Saturday with the District 9 tournament in three age groups. All eight Hollister teams played at least one game, and no team has been eliminated.
