The Relay For Life committee hosted the annual “Paint the Town Purple” Day Tuesday to recognize community members who have survived cancer. At 5:30 p.m., a group gathered at the Veterans Memorial Building for a dove release to celebrate, honor and remember those affected by cancer. On the same day, Tres Pinos School students held a Relay Recess to raise money for the American Cancer Society and awareness about prevention strategies.

River parkway project running smoothly

San Benito County supervisors voted Tuesday to add the San Benito River Habitat Conservation project to the capital outlay fund as a new capital project, which will help the county move forward with a proposed river parkway along the San Benito River that will eventually stretch from San Juan Bautista to the San Benito County Historical Park in Tres Pinos.

Flurry of small earthquakes shake near Hollister

There were two minor earthquakes in the Tres Pinos area Monday as part of a flurry of temblors in the region, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
