For more than a decade with occasions like Memorial Day, locals have perused the brick pavers at the Veterans Memorial Building courtyard’s outer edge to see a glimpse of someone they once knew, or perhaps a family member or friend who died for the country.
More than a dozen veterans met at a Hollister resident’s home late last week in appreciation of the amputee’s service in the Army and presented the man with $13,000 in donations.
American Legion Post 69 is teaming up with a nonprofit that helps area veterans by putting on car shows. The American Legion is planning a resource fair as well for local veterans, including representatives from Veterans Affairs and other agencies that provide support to veterans.
