The Braves defeated the Mets 5-3 in a battle for second place in the second half of the Hollister National Little League Majors Division Saturday night. The win by the Braves (8-2 second half) puts them in a playoff vs. the Marlins, winner of the first half, this Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Vet’s Park. The winner of that game advances to the District 9 Majors Tournament of Champions, which starts this Friday night in Hollister.

Lance Villasenor hit a home run for the Mets (7-3 second half), but it wasn’t enough as the Braves put together a four-run fourth to take charge.

The top two teams from both the National and American leagues will represent Hollister. The first place teams can pick when and whom they’ll play in the first round, but that has yet to be determined.
