Cal State University Monterey Bay is putting on a free youth spring training baseball camp on March 7.
Session I will be for players 7-10 years old and will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Session II will be for players 11-14 years old and will be held from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the CSUMB baseball field.

Dirty Gears MTB XC Series to begin Feb. 21
South Valley Endurance is gearing up for the start of its 2010 mountain bike race series. The newly titled series, Dirty Gears MTB XC, will consist of four races open to all levels of mountain bikers. The series points will be tracked, giving riders the opportunity to either receive a unique handcrafted award, or just enjoy local trails and collect some prizes.
The inaugural race takes places at Fort Ord State Park in Salinas on Feb. 21. The series continues with Santa Teresa County Park (March 6), Harvey Bear Ranch County Park (June 5) and Wilder Ranch State Park (July 17).

Registration for San Juan Little League continues
Registration for the 2010 baseball season of San Juan Aromas Little League continues through Jan. 31.
After Jan. 16, fees increase to $95 for the first registrant and $80 for siblings. Registration closes Jan. 31.

Cardinals football to hold sign-ups on Jan. 23
The San Benito Cardinals of American Youth Football and Cheer will hold sign-ups for spring football at Straw Hat Pizza on Jan. 23 from 12 to 3 p.m.
The season will start the week of March 1 and will run through May 15. Practices will be held three times per week after school, while opposing teams include Oak Grove, Silicon Valley and San Jose.
The Cardinals include six different teams with ages ranging from 5 to 15 years old. Weight restrictions apply, except at the varsity level for players 15 and under.
Fees are $175, $200 after Jan. 23 and $250 after the first week of practice. Fees are $100 for the first 25 midget team players at registration.

Mission Ten Race scheduled for Jan. 30
The 27th annual Mission Ten Race, a benefit for community service projects sponsored by the Rotary Club of Hollister, will be held Saturday, Jan. 30, at the Mission Plaza on Second Street in San Juan Bautista.
The event will include the Elliott Swank Memorial one-mile kids fun run at 9 a.m., a 5K race at 10:15 a.m., and a 10-mile race at 10 a.m.
Race day registration begins at 8 a.m.
Entry fee is $5 for the kids’ fun run (3 or more kids in same family is $12), while all other runners are $22 if received by Jan. 25, and $27 thereafter. A long sleeve rave T-shirt is included, except for the fun run. Trophies and medals will be awarded.

Mountain bike series scheduled for Jan. 30
The Winter XC Mountain Bike Series 2010, presented by SBRacing.org, will kick-off on Jan. 30 at Santa Teresa Park in San Jose, with four other rounds scheduled for San Martin (Feb. 20), Salinas (March 6), Gilroy (March 27) and San Jose (April 3).
Entry fee is $35 per round, and races begin at 10 a.m. On-site registration will run from 8 to 9:30 a.m. It is USA Cycling sanctioned, and helmets are required while riding.
Races will be broken into men’s and women’s classes, as well as beginner, sport and expert divisions.

YMCA announces new programs for January
The YMCA of San Benito County announced new sports programs it will be starting in January, including basketball, bicycling, kickball and street hockey, sponsored by the San Jose Sharks.
Basketball and Bicycling will be for preschool ages two and a half to 5 years old; kickball will be for elementary grades kindergarten through fifth; and the San Jose Sharks sponsored street hockey will be for grades third through eighth.

Monica Abbott “Bring It” Clinic scheduled for February
The Monica Abbott “Bring It” Clinic is slated for Saturday, Feb. 6, at the Salinas Sports Complex, located at 1060 North Main Street in Salinas.
The softball clinic will focus on pitching, infield, outfield and hitting, and will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for players aged 7 to 17. No previous softball knowledge is required.

San Juan Oaks Junior Program seeks participants
The San Juan Oaks Golf Club is accepting members in its junior program Club “Boom Boom.” Inspired by San Juan Oaks course designer Fred Couples, the junior program is offered for youth ages 6-17 years old. The benefits include the following:
— Juniors pay $5 for green fees Monday through Friday after 2:30 p.m. with an accompanying adult who pays $35 (cart fees not included), while juniors pay $10 for green fees Saturday, Sunday and on holidays after 2:30 p.m. when playing with an accompanying adult who pays $45 (cart fees not included).
— Members receive $5 off normal junior rate good anytime Monday through Friday.
— Receive a small bucket of range balls for only $2 every day (up to two small buckets per day).
— Junior members receive a 10 percent discount on private golf lessons with San Juan Oaks teaching staff.
— End of the year day-long golf clinic. Aspects covered will be full swing, short game shots, putting and rules seminar followed by a no-host barbecue luncheon (date to be determined by San Juan Oaks management).

Bolado Park Golf Club announced the Junior Bolado Ball Bashers Club, a golf program open to juniors 17 years of age or younger.
