ANIMALS IN NEED: The Hollister Animal Shelter is looking for a few good volunteers. Is there any reason you couldn’t donate about two hours a week to help walk dogs or cuddle cats. Child Care provider recognition: Child care providers are being honored at a special dinner event on Thursday, May 27, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at San Juan Oaks Golf Club, Highway 156 at Union Road. Registration is from 6 to 6:30 p.m. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Bill Michaelis, professor at San Francisco State University and director of Children Together, an international leadership training organization. Admission is free for licensed child care providers and $10 for guests.

Annual Festival: The Portuguese Society of the Holy Ghost of Hollsiter will have its annual festival weekend May 29 and 30.
