Small Business MarketinG: Gavilan College will hold a basic marketing strategies class from 10 a.m. to noon Wed. July 21 at the Community Services & Workforce Development Office located at 1131 San Felipe Road, Hollister.

CAr wash: The San Benito High School Junior Class of 2006 will hold a car wash from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sat. July 17 at the Medical Center on the corner of Memorial and Sunnyslope. The money will be used to pay for next year’s Prom and donations are greatly appreciated.

QUILTERS: The Pinnacle Quilters of San Benito County will meet again on Tuesday, July 20; this month learn how to prepare your quilt for machine quilting and see an actual demonstration. CITY COUNCIL ELECTIONS: The filing period for City Council Districts 1, 4 and 5 open Monday, July 12 at 8 a.m. and close August 6 at 5 p.m. unless an incumbent does not file; then the filing period will be extended until August 11. All interested candidates must be a registered voter within their district and come to the City Clerk’s Office in City Hall at 375 Fifth Street to pull papers. We require signatures in lieu of a filing fee. Each term is for four years. The other two seats will be up in November of 2006.
