Hoffmeister accused of killing Christella Macias, whose body
turned up on the residential road in June
The suspected killer of a 20-year-old Hollister woman whose body turned up on a residential road has pleaded not guilty to homicide.
Travis J. Hoffmeister, 23, of Hollister, pleaded not guilty at an arraignment hearing Monday afternoon at the San Benito County Courthouse, and a judge set his bail at $1 million. He is suspected of killing Christella Macias, who was covered by only a shirt and a bag over her head when she was found on a June morning.
Hoffmeister’s attorney is the public defender, Greg LaForge, who appeared with the suspect in court Monday.
“We received extensive police reports and we’re going to begin our investigation,” LaForge said today.
Hollister police arrested Hoffmeister on Friday after connecting him to the crime using state-analyzed forensic evidence, according to the Hollister Police Department.
Police Chief Jeff Miller said on Monday the investigation continues.
