Swank Farm Corn Maze

The Swank Farm Corn Maze and Haunted Ranch is open through Nov. 1. The night mazes and haunted ranch are open on weekends only after dark, on Fridays and Saturdays from 6-10 p.m., and Sunday. 6-10 p.m. The evening events will also be open Oct. 27-29 from 6-10 p.m. The Nighttime Maniac Maze pass is $15. When one haunted event is included, the price is raised to $20 and when two are added the price is $25. In addition to the night events, Swank Farms is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with daytime mazes and a kiddy corral. VFW Halloween dinner dance

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post Leslie L. Garrett, of San Juan Bautista, will be hosting a Halloween fancy dress dinner dance Oct. 31, from 6 p.m. to midnight, 58 Monterey St., in San Juan Bautista. Tickets for the dinner and dance are $25 a person. The event will include music, costume prizes and a menu with a seven-course meal. Proceeds will support veterans. Dia de los Muertos

El Teatro Campesino has joined forces with Esperanza del Valle to put on six performances for Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), starting Oct. 31 at 8 p.m., at . Additional performances will be Saturday, Nov. 1, Friday, Nov. 7 and Saturday Nov. 8 at 8 p.m., and Sunday Nov. 2 and 9 at 2 p.m. Guests are encouraged to come early to view altars that will be on display in the Playhouse. There will be a procession through San Juan Bautista at 7 p.m. on Nov. 1, and families can participate in face painting and sugar skull decorating Oct. 31 – Nov. 2. Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and students and $12 for children.

‘Little Shop of Horrors’

The San Benito Stage Company presents the teen musical, ‘The Little Shop of Horrors,’ at the Granada Theatre, on 336 Fifth St., through Nov. 8. Performances of the PG show are Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are available in advance at Postal Graphics, Mars Hill and the Running Rooster. ‘Showcasing Our Local Artists’

The Hollister Art League will be hosting the “Showcasing Our Local Artists” art show now through Nov. 14, at the Blak Sage Gallery, 727 San Benito St., in Hollister. Brass band concert

The Pacific Brass will present a benefit concert for the San Benito County YMCA at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1 at the First Presbyterian Church, 2066 San Benito St. The Pacific Brass is made up of musicians from San Benito, Monterey, Santa Cruz and Santa Clara counties. Their repertoire consists of traditional brass band and symphonic music as well as American folk songs, rags, marches and selections from musical theater. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and students, and are available at the door or at the YMCA on Fifth Street or Ace Hardware on Airline Highway. Free seasonal flu clinic

The San Benito County Public Health Department is hosting a free seasonal flu clinic on Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Building in downtown Hollister. Health seekers workshop

The YMCA health seekers workshop on Nov. 3, will focus on beauty, vitality and whole food nutrition. The evening begins at 7 p.m. at the YMCA office on Fifth Street. Guest speakers for November include Kathleen Sheridan, a yoga instructor, grandmother and breast cancer survivor, Mary Margaret Lanning, a personal trainer and nutrition consultant, and Cheryl Ritter Wenzlik, a family wellness education with Juice Plus. The workshops are held the first Tuesday of the month, and upcoming topics include doctors, chiropractors, alternative approaches to health and more. For more information, call 637-8600.

Hillside Christian Fellowship celebrates 10 years

Hillside Christian Fellowship will be hosting special events Nov. 6-8 to celebrate 10 years working in San Benito County. Dave Patterson, the founding pastor of Father’s House in Vacaville, will visit the church Nov. 6 at 7 p.m., at 281 San Felipe Road, in Hollister. On Nov. 7, at 6 p.m., David Cannistraci, the senior pastor of Gateway Church in San Jose, will visit. On Nov. 8, a special service honoring community agencies will be held at 10:30 a.m. with David Kiteley, who serves Shiloh Church in Oakland. Mayor Eugenia Sanchez and Sheriff Curtis Hill will speak at the service, and dozen local agencies will be recognized for their work in the community. The event will include a slide presentation and testimonials, as well as a buffet luncheon. At 6 p.m., Ernest Gentile, the founding pastor of Christian Community Church in San Jose, will visit. Youth cheerleading clinic

The San Benito High School Baler Cheer Squads invite kids ages 5 to 14 to participate in a cheerleading clinic on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mattson gym, located at the high school, off of Nash Road. Registration fees start at $30 by Oct. 23 and go up to $35 after Oct. 23. Participants will learn cheer routines and be invited to perform at the JV football game on Nov. 13. Rancho/Maze craft boutique

The Rancho/Maze band will be hosting an arts and craft boutique Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Rancho San Justo Middle School. The boutique will benefit the Rancho/Maze band. Harvest bazaar

The women of the Hollister United Methodist Church will hold their annual Harvest Bazaar Saturday, Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall on Fifth and Monterey streets. San Juan Elementary School will be hosting a fall clean-up day at the school Nov. 7 at 8 a.m., 100 Nyland Drive, in San Juan Bautista. Barbershop 4-part Harmony

Sacred Heart dinner dance

The Sacred Heart Foundation will be hosting a dinner and dance on Nov. 14, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at San Juan Oaks, 3825 Union Road. Brian Hackney, a correspondent for CBS 5’s “Eye On The Bay,” will be the guest speaker for the evening. Hackney is a native of California born Hollister. He graduated from Sacred Heart Parish School in 1971 and San Benito High School in 1975. Tickets for the event will be $65 per person or $520 for a table with sponsor recognition. Tickets can be bought at Sacred Heart Parish School. All proceeds for the fundraiser will go to scholarships for students seeking to attend Sacred Heart Parish School. An afternoon of fashion

All Creatures Great and Small Rescue will be hosting an afternoon of fashion fundraiser, silent auction and raffle Nov. 14, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Cedar House restaurant.
