“The cannery is not the problem people! You’re the problem! If you were tired when you went to bed at night, you’d sleep. I was born and raised in Hollister and in all my 60 years the cannery has never kept me awake.

What keeps me awake is the Harleys racing up and down Fourth and Powell streets with their illegal exhaust systems.

Also, the low-riders riding up and down residential neighborhoods with their stereos blasting and the vibrations rattling the windows out of your house and setting off vehicle alarms with vibration sensors.

All of this with the blessing of law enforcement.”

“This businessman who wrote in about the people that live in San Benito County and 600 of them have jobs here (at the cannery). He is a liar.

Of the 600 who work there, there is over 400 of them that come from out of our area for the three months, then they leave and then they come back and get their unemployment during the winter.

And as for the people who bought homes here all around the area of the cannery, a lot of them were here before the cannery was here.

Find out how many really work here and how many really spend their money here.

And about the noise and why these guys park in front of fire hydrants and all those other things without getting tickets, and all these lousy trucks driving 60 to 80 miles per hour down our streets and ruining them and we’re having to pay for them.”
