Mr. Sarsfield, you sure have been getting a lot of negative ink
in this column during your first year as the DA. I sure hope you
are getting used to it, because it’s not going to stop until you
are ousted.
“Mr. Sarsfield, you sure have been getting a lot of negative ink in this column during your first year as the DA. I sure hope you are getting used to it, because it’s not going to stop until you are ousted. There is someone else out there who wants to be the DA, and this individual is already starting the campaign to unseat you. Badmouthing you now and hoping to destroy your reputation via the media is what some present and future politicians do. (Hopefully the number is small.) Let’s face it, some of us know what’s going on. Anybody who has lived in this area for any length of time KNOWS why it is happening. You were not supposed to WIN in the DA’s election. The good old boys had already picked Harry’s successor, and you ain’t him. Cronyism is alive and well in San Benito County. What’s happening to you now is nothing new. It’s been done before to somebody else who wasn’t the hand-picked successor for an out-going elected law official. In point of fact, some of the players are probably the SAME. Strike one!
You had the audacity to oppose a certain former DA’s employee. Strike two!
You either are or are not doing your job correctly. I don’t know. But other people sure seem to. From the writing styles, I’d guess that there can’t be more than five people (probably less) writing all those negative letters. They’d have to be very familiar with the DA’s office, local politics and be as vindictive as all get out. There might even be a genuine bully in the group. If things change, then the San Benito County Full Re-employment Act for Former and Retired San Benito County Employees might cease to exist. That will not be tolerated. And that’s strike three.
Certain individuals in the legal community might actually have to live with just their (generous) government pensions. The good old boys are now paying each other back. That’s why only a few attorneys and investigators are getting all the work the contract Public Defender cannot do. And why others are not. That’s just the way things are done here. Welcome to San Benito County.”
“Has the Free Lance went cuckoo or what? It’s not possible that Tracie Cone’s attorney just walked in and started prosecuting cases. It’s not possible that the guy who threatened the Free Lance just came over for lunch with the DA and next thing you know he is taking cases. Say it isn’t so.”
“Well, here we are again reading this letter from Mr. Paul Grannis. He is the one commenting on watching the watchdog group. This is coming from a guy who if we don’t remember, teamed up with Albert Einstein (J.J. Vogel) to form the group to watch all building contractors in town so they stop their shoddy building. I think he is calling the kettle black here. I am tired of reading his stuff. He is a sour grape. He lost an election and now is a self-proclaimed genius in government. His last article sticks up for Mr. Scagliotti and Mr. Cruz being good supervisors. Get over it, it is too late to suck up to these guys. They are done. It might have helped you eight years or so ago, but not now. Can the citizens of San Benito County imagine a government with Paul, J.J. and Eva Reyna on the board. It would have this county running backwards. So Mr. Grannis, you can be the president of your own 6,000 square foot lot and think you are doing a good job. Mind your own business! Another thing that bugs me is your finger pointing just like the one aimed at Mr. Madigan. Have you ever bothered to ask why he got kicked off the Planning Commission? Because he tried to do the right thing against the will of your two supervisor friends. Remember this, Watchdog King, that when you point a finger at someone, there are three pointing back at you! Also, remember that you cannot run government by looking out your front window and then closing your blinds. A lot more happens than just on Meridian Street.”
