We’d like to make this perfectly clear. We believe Anthony
Freitas is not involved with the signs missing from Aromas and San
Juan of Ruth Kesler and Anthony Botelho. We feel one of his
supporters is doing this. We don’t think it’s right. We’d like them
to stop. How would they feel if we started pulling out Anthony
Freitas signs. It’s strange that only Anthony Freitas signs are up.
And Ruth Kesler and Anthony Botelho signs are missing. Again, to
make it clear, we do not believe that Anthony Freitas is part of
this. However, we believe that someone who supports him is. We’d
like to see it stop.

“I am writing in response to the closure of Nash Road. I am a citizen who lives in the area around the high school and unfortunately have to travel through this road several times a day. What I see when I pass by the high school throughout the day are kids not using the crosswalk and walking in front of traffic without a care in the world. From what I can understand about this proposal is some citizens are concerned about the safety of their children while trying to cross Nash Road. What about the rest of the perimeter around the high school? I constantly see kids jaywalking on Monterey and West streets. Are you going to close those streets also?

Here’s a radical idea – what about holding the kids responsible for not using the crosswalks and walking right out in front of a vehicle? I say start handing out detention. Like many of the residents here in Hollister, I too went to the high school and had to cross Nash Road. I guess I was a little more intelligent and knew not to cross in front of a moving vehicle and to use the crosswalk.

My child attends the high school and I have explained to him the importance of the crosswalks. If I see him not using the crosswalks, there will be consequences. I don’t think enough parents hold their kids accountable for enough things these days. Kids need to make smart choices and using the crosswalk is one of them. Besides, I am not aware of any accidents that may have occurred there on Nash Road due to pedestrians/kids crossing the road.

Instead of inconveniencing the residents around the area, why not build some sort of crossing bridge? Oh, wait. That wouldn’t work because you would still have those certain kids who think they don’t need to use the bridge just like they don’t need to use the crosswalk.

I think other options need to be reviewed and not just say ‘Let’s close the road.’ If that, God forbid, should happen, what about the rest of the downtown area that will become more congested? Aren’t you just causing similar problems throughout other neighborhoods? Let’s not put our problems on other neighborhoods. Let’s try to solve it right here in our own backyard.”

“Senior citizens to City Hall: What date has been set for Bruscia to pay back the $1.2 million he cost us? Hell, he is part of the reason the city has a deficit! Do ya all get that? Had an employee done this, the city would be taking legal and criminal action, so why not on Bruscia? Sarsfield, where are you?

Another reason for the deficit: those uncollectable loans to A&R Management and Las Palmas. These loans were made with your taxes and now the city will ask you for more taxes. Evidently the powers that be at City Hall think taxpayers are as stupid and irresponsible as they are. Are you? Or have you had enough of higher taxes?”

“I am really tired about hearing about the city employees losing their jobs. I truly feel for them, but what makes them think they are different from anyone else? Nobody promised lifelong employment.

Layoffs happen every day. They are really lucky because they have six months time to prepare themselves and find a new job. What about the people that go to work and find out that they no longer have a job?

I say suck it up and get over it. Quit your whining and start working on your resume.”
