DA John Sarsfield’s use of a faceless and nameless criminal
grand jury is nothing new. Throughout the history of man, cowards
have used this type of scheme to control the masses and hide their
inadequacies. The Spanish Inquisition, Salem Witch Hunts,
McCarthyism in the 1950s to name a few; on a much larger scale, Mao
in China and Hitler in Germany.

“What is with our local district attorney? Why is he so hot to do grand jury proceedings out of view of the press? Is he afraid the public will see what a crummy job his attorneys do in court? How can we have justice in secret?

I was a domestic crime victim last year and can tell you that the district attorney’s office is very poorly run and does not care if you are a victim.

To be fair, I was accused in a traffic case last month, but it happened almost seven months ago and the DA just got around to it. I don’t expect to get justice in that case either since the DAs won’t do their job and look at all the facts.”

“Let me get this right. District Attorney John Sarsfield is making an appeal to taxpayers for more money because he says he is short staffed. So, one of his brilliant solutions is to pay taxpayers to be on a criminal grand jury. So he wants us to pay more taxes so he can pay taxpayers to do something he could do himself? Who is the public servant – the taxpayers or the DA?

“I see that the proponents of Measure G feel that anyone who has a business or is successful is not an average citizen. That is very sad. Do you feel that you are not an average citizen? Quit thinking of business owners and ranch and farm owners as a different type of person. Don’t be fooled by the sour grapes.

Measure G will take $160 MILLION away from our county EVERY YEAR! Ask all the average citizens who work for the county where they are going to work when their jobs get cut!

Funny thing about that overpriced lot, when you want to sell it, there isn’t a farmer or business owner telling YOU you can only sell it for half of what it is worth. Every person who owns a home in this county is a property owner, so when you sell your house in town for $500,000, according to G proponents, you are a greedy landowner too.

Do not be fooled by the slick walk pieces and the full color letters and full size full color mailers. You can vote to manage growth by voting for elected officials that represent your views. That is why we have a representative government in the United States. Join your community and work to protect it. Work with the people who are out working and paying taxes everyday making this place livable.

This has become very confusing, everyone is saying the opposite and you want to know which way to go. Should you vote for a Measure that is this confusing? Of course not, this community can and will do better.

VOTE NO ON MEASURE G.”

“Let me offer you some thought. Why doesn’t Santa Clara County build affordable homes for your natives and or residents? That way they can quit coming to Hollister and driving up real estate prices with their big out-of-town wages; besides once they get here, they whine about how there is nothing to do and they have ‘mall’ withdrawals.

You have all the commercial and industrial so why don’t you keep your residents too? You have a lot of nerve telling us how we should do this and don’t do that, but even you have not provided for your residents in the form of affordable housing.

Please evaluate your own community shortfalls before judging a neighboring community.”
