Ever feel like your parents are yelling at you too much? I do.

My parents don’t just yell at me because they like to, they yell at me because of something I did. I don’t yell back because it just makes it worse.

I know that, at our age, it’s tough, because our parents won’t let us go out, go to a dance, football game or go hangout with our friends. We need to take some action and show our parents we can succeed in life. Don’t argue with your parents because then you’ll have everyone screaming at each other.

I was reading the Free Lance the other day and read about the girl who ran away from home just because her mom was telling her to stop using marijuana. The girl ran away just because of that. I think that is just childish. Her mother was only trying to do her job.

Our parents do a lot of good things for us. What do we give them? Let me tell you what we give them – we yell at them, sometimes, for the stupidest things. We tell them they’re ruining our lives. We leave the house early in the morning and don’t come home till late at night. We make our parents worry too darn much.

People, running away isn’t the answer. What we need to do is sit down with our parents and talk to them. Tell your parents how you feel.

Let your parents know who your friends are and where they live. Let your parents know who your girlfriend/boyfriend is. You shouldn’t care how embarrassing your parents are. My parents embarrass me, but they’re cool parents. They know how to have fun. There are a lot of teenagers I know who don’t even know how to talk to their parents. Some teenagers talk to their parents like they were talking to their friends. They need to know that their parents are always there for them.

Remember, even though your parents yell at you, they still love you.
