Hollister – As the San Benito Council of Governments Board of Directors prepares to make a decision on whether to cut two bus routes and scale-back Dial-a-Ride services, locals will get a chance to publicly air their feelings about the county transit system this week.

COG will hold two public forums on unmet county transit needs this week – today at 1pm at the Community Center in Hollister and Thursday at 6pm in the Board of Supervisors chambers. The forums are required by state law.

Also on Thursday, the COG board will vote on whether to approve a proposal to eliminate a bus route that runs from Nash Road to Westside Boulevard to Hazel Hawkins Hospital, and another route that runs from Hollister to the Greyhound station in Gilroy. Weekend Dial-a-Ride services will also be reduced under the proposal.

COG Executive Director Tom Quigley said the cuts are being considered because the routes are not used enough.

All residents are welcome to attend.
