SAN FRANCISCO
The state’s high court is considering whether to block the San Francisco 49ers from patting down fans before they enter the team’s home stadium.
Two season ticket holders objecting to the searches sued the team, alleging invasion of privacy. Two lower courts sided with the 49ers. The team instituted the policy in 2005 as part of the National Football League’s anti-terrorism security efforts.
An appeals court ruled that fans can quit going to games if they were offended by the searches.
On Tuesday, the California Supreme Court heard arguments in the case and will rule within 90 days.
