Nicolas Parara Wade graduated from the Army at Fort Knox, Ky.
(1-46th Platoon) Dec. 17, 2008 after nine weeks of Army training.
He has accomplished the Army core values and is part of the Armed

Nicolas Parara Wade

Nicolas Parara Wade graduated from the Army at Fort Knox, Ky. (1-46th Platoon) Dec. 17, 2008 after nine weeks of Army training. He has accomplished the Army core values and is part of the Armed Forces defending our great country.

He continues with his education as an electrician in Alberdeen, Md., for nine weeks, which will be credited toward his education goals of a bachelor’s degree.

Nicolas, son of Susan and Thomas Wade of Morgan Hill, is a 2008 graduate of Sobrato High School.

Paul Corrales Travis

United States Army Sgt. Paul Corrales Travis, of Fort Campbell, recently completed a second tour in service in Iraq. Paul was promoted to sergeant while on tour.

It had been three years since he spent a Christmas and New Year’s with his family, and it was a memorable holiday.

Paul is the son of Tony and Julie Travis of Hollister, and brother of Rechelle, Tony, Romeo and Julius Travis.

Reid Amerian

Marine Corps Pvt. Reid E. Amerian, son of Marlene and Alan Amerian of Morgan Hill, recently completed the Marine Corps Basic Enlisted Supply Course.

During the course with Marine Corps Combat Service Support Schools Training Command, Camp Lejeune, N.C., students learn to use supply publications and catalogs, general accounting and the basics of naval correspondence.

Amerian is a 2006 graduate of Live Oak High School and joined the Marine Corps in June 2008.

Yesenia Robles

Sgt. Yesenia Robles, daughter of Maria Pilar Juarez from San Juan Bautista, recently joined the Armed Forces Inaugural Committee, which is preparing to support the 56th Presidential Inauguration on Jan. 20, 2009.

Robles, a 2002 graduate of San Benito High School in Hollister, is assigned to the logistics directorate as a light transportation driver. She is responsible for driving sedans and vans, completing operator checks and services of assigned vehicles, and providing dedicated transportation support for the Presidential Inaugural. Robles is an active duty member of the United States Army and has served for five years.

WEDDING

Olson/Robbins

Marianna Amanda Olson and Benjamin Daniel Robbins were married Dec. 20, 2008.

Marianna, daughter of Edward and Maureen Olson, is from Gilroy and a 2007 graduate of Monte Vista Christian School in Watsonville. She is a sophomore at Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz.

Benjamin, son of Robert and Lisa Robbins, is from San Martin and a 2006 graduate of Monte Vista Christian School in Watsonville. He is enlisted in the United States Airforce.

The ceremony was held at Glad Tidings Community Church in San Juan Bautista. Reception followed at the Cutting Horse Restaurant. The bride, escorted down the isle by her father, Edward, and given in marriage by both parents, wore heirloom pearls and an heirloom ring, and carried a silver sixpence in her shoe for good luck. Marianna’s grandmother, Sharon Olson, served as pianist. The ceremony was performed by Rev. William Barrett. Ben and Marianna chose Ben’s father, Robert, to read Song of Solomon 2: 8-13.

The couple enjoyed a honeymoon at Disneyland in Anaheim. They will reside in Gilroy until Ben’s next assignment.

Jayden Jose Navarro was born Dec. 10, 2008 at Saint Louise Regional Hospital to Jose and Susana Navarro of Hollister. He weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces.

Janessa Mariana Cruz

Janessa Mariana Cruz was born Oct. 8, 2008 at Hazel Hawkins to Juan and Josie Cruz of Hollister. She weighed 7 pounds.

Taylor Ryan Hinn

Taylor Ryan Hinn was born Dec. 24, 2008 at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose to Ryan and Ingrid Hinn of San Jose. He weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces.

Melody Mia Salcedo

Melody Mia Salcedo was born Dec. 22, 2008 at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital to Heidi Jasmin Hernandez and Ricardo Jr. Salcedo of Hollister. She weighed 8 pounds, 15 ounces.

Noah Raymond Amsden

Noah Raymond Amsden was born Dec. 10, 2008 at 3rd Medical Group Hospital Elmendorf, Alaska, to Lance and Melissa Amsden, a Gilroy native. He weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces.
