Marianne Eichenbaum

Gilroy artist Marianne Eichenbaum grew up in Ansbach, a Bavarian town in Germany, where she watched the hands of her father create his own art—in cakes. As a young girl, she would spend hours watching his hands sift, stir and mold common kitchen ingredients—flour, butter, sugar—into delightful and delicious bakery treats.
As she grew, she became inspired to create as well—although a bit differently.
Eichenbaum is a painter whose artwork includes everything from abstract and classic cars, to landscapes.
At 21, Eichenbaum came on her own to the United States, and it’s that adventurous spirit that drives her experiment with multiple genres.
“I enjoy working with a variety of tools as well; laying the colors on the canvas and watching the painting come alive,” she said. “As each image begins to appear, I begin pushing, blending, shaping, much like my father did with his pastries. And when it’s complete before me, I see something emotional and meaningful.”
Eichenbaum started a nonprofit art association in Gilroy in March 2014. Northern California Art Fusion currently has 20 members and the group meets the first Friday of every month at Leedo Art and Framing in downtown Gilroy.
Eichenbaum’s art is currently on exhibit at Gilroy City Hall, and some of her work can be seen at the Gilroy Gardens Red Barn Art Gallery and the Gilroy Art Alliance. She also has an upcoming exhibit scheduled at Leedo’s Art and Framing.
