Hollister – The San Benito County Sheriff’s Office has finished its investigation into criminal allegations that include rape against Sgt. Mike Rodrigues, the office announced Thursday.
Sheriff Curtis Hill said internal affairs probes into the 25-year veteran continue, but that criminal reports had been sent to the San Benito County District Attorney’s Office.
“All the information has been forwarded over there,” Hill said.
District Attorney Candice Hooper said her office is reviewing the reports and she has not made a decision on whether to charge Rodrigues.
“We have received further reports,” Hooper said.
Hill declined to comment on what the Sheriff’s Office investigations found or what charges were recommended to the District Attorney’s Office for potential prosecution.
In September, Hill confirmed the office was investigating allegations of rape, two violations of a court order to prevent domestic violence and intimidation of a witness or victim against Rodrigues. Hill also confirmed the Hollister Police Department was investigating a separate rape allegation against Rodrigues.
Rodrigues was also listed as a suspect in a reported stalking of three women Aug. 18 in Hollister, the Police Department reported.
Hooper said last week that the Police Department had forwarded its information to her office. Police officials were unavailable to comment Thursday on the findings of their investigation into the allegations against Rodrigues.
Hill also confirmed in September his intent to fire Rodrigues, who remains on paid administrative leave. The Sheriff’s Office served Rodrigues with a notice of intent to terminate.
Two women, one his wife, filed restraining order requests against Rodrigues in late August. A judge is scheduled to hear those requests on Nov. 9, according to San Benito County Superior Court documents.
