Hollister-based DeBrito Chocolate Factory has been sold to new owners, including someone who worked at the business under the prior ownership, the Free Lance has confirmed.

DeBrito’s, which employs around 15 people, changed owners on Monday. The new owners are Juan and Tina Hernandez. Staff members said Tina Hernandez has been employed at the chocolate factory for about three years and wore many hats.

Alene DeBrito founded the factory, located at 160 Briggs Road, in 1993 in response to local demand for her homemade chocolate-dipped dried apricots and other sweets.
