Casa De Fruta – The cause of two-car collision on Highway 156 west of Highway 152 early Wednesday morning is still under investigation by the Hollister-Gilroy California Highway Patrol, but officials said alcohol was not a factor.

Los Banos resident Francisco Santoyo, 19, was traveling west on Highway 156 when he crossed into the eastbound lane of traffic and hit the rear wheels of a second motorist. Santoyo’s Toyota sedan spun around in the eastbound lane and was stuck by Magda Bueno, a 28-year-old Hollister woman, said CHP spokesman Chris Armstrong. Santoyo was flown by helicopter to San Jose Regional Hospital with moderate injuries, including cuts to his face. Bueno was also taken to San Jose Regional, but with minor cuts to her legs and chest, Armstrong said.

The exact cause of the accident is not yet clear, but Armstrong said officers are still investigating the crash.
