Two juvenile males sustained minor injuries Thursday when a car that authorities believe was stolen from Gilroy rolled over on northbound Highway 101 just south of Highway 25.
The California Highway Patrol responded shortly before 10 a.m. and located the two passengers in the 2007 Honda Accord nearby – one off of Highway 25 and the other in an agricultural field close by – and later found the driver on Frazier Lake Road, according to Officer Jamie Rios, a spokesman with the Gilroy-Hollister CHP unit.
The driver, a 17-year-old from Watsonville, was taken into custody and later released to a foster parent. He sustained minor injuries, a cut on his left hand. The passenger who was injured, a 17-year-old from San Martin, was treated at Saint Louise Regional Hospital for a cut to the hand as well. The other passenger, a 15-year-old from Gilroy, did not sustain injuries, according to the CHP.
The CHP has not recommended any charges, but Rios said they could include hit-and-run and possession of a stolen vehicle.
