HOLLISTER
The 23-year-old Hollister woman who has pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and an enhancement for the Feb. 16 traffic death of a Adam Haney, a 26-year-old Hollister man, is scheduled to be sentenced on at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday and could receive a maximum sentence of seven years in state prison.
Sentencing had been set for Oct. 28, but was delayed at the request of the defense.
“My hope is that Rosario will receive maximum sentencing because she needs to be accountable for her actions,” widow Kara Haney told the Free Lance Tuesday, adding that she hopes Lopez will avail herself of alcohol addiction programs in prison.
Rosario Lopez pleaded guilty to DUI with an enhancement of causing great bodily injury for the incident on Highway 101 resulting in Adam Haney’s death, and her sentencing in Monterey County on Wednesday is set to be presided over by Monterey County Judge Adrianne Grover.
Kara Haney was forced to move out of her Hollister home after she was unable to keep up on mortgage payments due to her husband’s death. She now resides in Salinas.
