A motor home caught fire at Highway 156 and Lucy Brown Lane on Tuesday evening, after which its driver left the scene and did not return, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The recreational vehicle had its engine catch fire at some point between 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tuesday, said CHP spokeswoman Erica Elias.

“Whoever was driving it got in another car and took off,” Elias said.

The motor home continued burning, and the CHP had a tow company remove it from the roadside.

She said the fire started in the engine. The R.V. did not strike anything, she said.
