Leia Wiegand and Jorge Araiza were recently engaged on Jan. 15
in Laguna Beach. Jorge surprised Leia with a marriage proposal when
they were out to lunch. After their lunch, he brought her to his
aunt’s house, where family and friends were waiting for them to
celebrate with an engagement party.

Leia, daughter of Kurt and Beneva Wiegand, of Hollister, is a 2003 graduate of San Benito High School, where she was a cheerleader. She graduated from California State University, Chico in 2007 with a bachelor’s in Business Administration. She currently works as an IT Buyer for Verizon Wireless in Irvine.
Jorge, son of Juan Francisco and Elsa Araiza, of Temecula, also graduated from CSU, Chico in 2007 with a bachelor’s in Psychology. He currently works in Orange County’s ESL Program and serves as the assistant baseball boach for Vanguard University in Costa Mesa.
Leia and Jorge met during their second year at Chico State in 2005 and steadily dated for six years. The couple resides in Orange County and is planning for a July 2012 wedding in Southern California.
