Erickson holds two certificates and flowers presented to her Tuesday at the county board meeting.

Three decades ago, in March 1983, San Benito County Librarian Jo Wahdan asked Ruth Erickson to run for president of the Friends of the San Benito County Free Library. Thirty years later, Erickson is still serving on the board and is as active as ever volunteering and advocating for the county library.
Erickson has served as president and in all other positions on the board. She has read to children, presented programs and invited many speakers for special educational programs. Among her many accomplishments, Erickson helped to bring the bookmobile to the library.
To honor Erickson, State Sen. Anthony Cannella’s local representative, Bill Ritz, presented her with a certificate, as did the county board and library.
