Ricardo Arredondo, an all-Monterey Bay League soccer player at Hollister High in the 1999-2000 season, was resting at his home Wednesday after being injured in a motorcycle accident Tuesday on Highway 25.
Arredondo was traveling to his home from Gavilan College on his Kawasaki Ninja 250 motorcycle when he collided with a car at the Wright Road intersection. Arredondo had several stitches in his left leg and suffered bruises to his hand and neck.
“I’m OK,” Arredondo said Wednesday night. “I was scared.”
One of the first to call Arredondo after hearing about the accident was his former high school coach, Michael Warner.
“I was worried about him,” Warner said. “A lot of my players look up to him. They see a guy like that succeeding at a higher level and it gives them hope.”
Arredondo is sitting out this season after spending two years playing for Canada College in Redwood City. He made second team all-league as a freshman and first team all-league as a sophomore.
Canada placed third in the state Arredondo’s freshman year.
