in four years deserves a diploma.

Making high school students pass an exit exam to get a high school diploma is a waste of time and money. Any student who puts in four years deserves a diploma. But they should also take an exit exam and have the results bar-graphed on the back of their diploma. Future employers could then see the student’s academic competence level.
When I apply for a teaching job, the school board wants to see my diplomas. But they also want to see my California Test of Basic Skills scores.
