Hollister – The San Benito freshmen football team fell three yards short of tying their game last Thursday against a visiting Seaside squad, but will look to rebound tonight in their Homecoming game against North Salinas.

“It was a good game, back and forth the whole time,” said assistant coach Matt Andrade. “It was basically a field-position game.”

Both teams were knotted at 0-0 up until the final minute of regulation.

Seaside went ahead 7-0 with approximately 10 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, Andrade said, leaving the Haybalers one last chance.

With one play from their own 45-yard line, San Benito quarterback Tyler Decker found Isaac Navarette, who sprinted downfield but was tackled at the 3-yard line as time ran out.

“We were able to make something happen with that one play, but we got caught from behind,” Andrade said. “We have a good defense with an offense that is trying to find its identity.”

The Haybalers will host North Salinas tonight at 6pm.
