The National Weather Service this afternoon issued a frost advisory for the Hollister, Salinas and Carmel valley areas for Tuesday morning, with temperatures expected to dip into the low 30s from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m.
The low temperature for Hollister is expected to be 30 on Tuesday morning, prompting the call for caution.
Damage to sensitive plants can be expected in areas where temperatures drop into the lower 30s, the Weather Service said, recommending that people take precautions with plants and pets.
A frost advisory means that frost is possible and sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered.
Temperatures Tuesday are forecast to recover quickly after sunrise this week, with a high of 62 Tuesday after a low of 32, with patchy frost possible through 10 a.m. Morning frost is expected to make a return Wednesday morning, with a low of 34, before warming to 61 in the afternoon.
