Hollister – A community gang task force meeting will be held at the San Benito High School cafeteria on Wednesday to discuss solutions to the city’s gang problem, according to police.

The meeting will be the third community gang task force meeting in which officials hope to garner enough information about the burgeoning gang problem to combat it, according to police.

During the first meeting residents attempted to identify the scope of the problem, and the second meeting’s discussion forums in February focused on establishing the causes of the problem.

“Suppression is part of it, but we cannot arrest our way out of the gang problem,” said police spokesman George Ramirez. “We need to come together as a community. It can’t just be a police problem.”

Spanish-speaking mediators will be available, and all community members are welcome to attend. The meeting will start at 6:30pm and should end by 8pm.
