The Hollister Fire Department quickly extinguished a garage fire on Powell Street that started at about 1:30 p.m. today after a resident had been working on a vehicle’s fuel line when it sparked a small blaze.

Firefighters on two engines arrived to the house in the 800 block of Powell Street near the intersection of Vali Way and put out the fire, which appeared to be isolated to ground under the rear of a white car jacked up in the garage. Nobody was injured from the incident.

After putting out the blaze, firefighters took other precautionary steps and used a machine to blow smoke from the house. The police department, meanwhile, assisted with traffic control.
