CALLER 1: Hello, I am the grandmother of a young man who just got back from a travel team with Hollister baseball. They did quite well. I keep watching the sports pages in the Free Lance and I see nothing. I think the young men deserve a little bit of adulation for what they did do. They didn’t finish on top, but they did pretty doggone good. If you could I would appreciate it.

GREEN PHONE: Thanks for giving us a call. I’m sure you’re quite proud of what your grandson and his teammates did. When it comes to the many different youth sports teams that are competing throughout the year, it’s an almost impossible task for us to keep track of all of them. Hopefully you noticed the Nov. 25 issue of the Free Lance where an article previewing the Hollister Aftershox trip to the Super Series Winter National Championship Tournament appeared. It’s unfortunate that we weren’t able to include updates of how the team did once they began play in Arizona, but it’s a busy time of the year and with nobody reporting results to us, it slipped through the cracks. For those who wanted to find out, the Aftershox won their first two games in the tournament, beating the Arizona Raptors 9-1 and Puma Baseball 7-3. They lost to the Phoenix Fury, whichbeat Hollister to knock the Aftershox to the elimination bracket, where they fell to the Sandia Sluggers 10-4.
