Haybaler volleyball team looks to right the ship with different
blocking schemes
After barreling through the early portion of its preseason schedule with a 7-0 record, the San Benito High volleyball team now finds itself mired in a two-match slide.

The team dropped its match against Valley Christian last Thursday and then lost again on Tuesday in a straight-sets defeat to Leigh on the road.

But head coach Dean Askanas is convinced that the losing streak won’t stretch to a third match.

“I told the girls after tonight that that was going to be our last loss for a while,” Askanas said. “That’s my gut feeling, I really think we’re going to turn it around.”

Chalk up Hollister’s pair of losses to the new rotations being implemented by coach Askanas, rotations that promise to make the squad much more formidable up front once they master the new look.

“We’re trying a new rotation that I think is really going to pay off in the future,” Askanas said. “We’re trying to develop a stronger block and I’ve been very encouraged by what I’ve seen so far.”
