Dating problems and losing friendships
Dear Lindsay,
I am in the band and I totally like this girl on the
cheerleading squad. My friends say she will never like me, but I
want to ask her out. How can I approach her?
-Shy guy
Dear Shy Guy,
Don’t let the fact that you are in the band distract you from
getting what you want. Don’t let your friends discourage you
either. Life is not like the movies; just because you are in the
band doesn’t mean you can’t get the girl. Have confidence in
yourself. If you have a class with her, get to know her. You need
to work your way up. If you do end up asking her out and she says
no, don’t let it get you down. The most important thing is you
tried.
Dating problems and losing friendships

Dear Lindsay,

I am in the band and I totally like this girl on the cheerleading squad. My friends say she will never like me, but I want to ask her out. How can I approach her?

-Shy guy

Dear Shy Guy,

Don’t let the fact that you are in the band distract you from getting what you want. Don’t let your friends discourage you either. Life is not like the movies; just because you are in the band doesn’t mean you can’t get the girl. Have confidence in yourself. If you have a class with her, get to know her. You need to work your way up. If you do end up asking her out and she says no, don’t let it get you down. The most important thing is you tried.

Dear Lindsay,

I have been dating this guy for four months, but I really don’t like his best friend. He is rude and obnoxious and always says mean things to me, but I don’t want to keep my boyfriend from his friends. What can I do?

-Tired of His Friend

Dear Tired,

Have you tried talking to your boyfriend about it? Let him know that this guy bugs you. You don’t need to keep him from his friend, just let him know that if he’s around, you won’t hang out with them because he’s rude. Just make sure your boyfriend sets some time for you as well. If he’s a good boyfriend, he’ll do that and let the guy know that what he’s doing is not cool and that he needs to chill out.

Dear Lindsay,

Since we started high school this year, my best friend doesn’t call me or hang out with me. I asked if something was wrong and she said no. What should I do?

-Feeling Neglected

Dear Neglected,

Sadly high school does that to people. If you tried talking to her, and she just turns away, then she is not a good friend and it’s time to find a new one. It sucks, I know, but sometimes that’s the way it has to be. Hopefully in the future, you two can reunite.

Dear Lindsay,

I really want to see “Resident Evil,” but my parents won’t let me because it is rated R. I am 15 and I think I am mature enough to see it. Can I do anything to get my parents to let me go?

-Parentally Rated

Dear Parentally Rated,

You need to show your parents that you are as mature as you say you are. Don’t argue as much, do stuff around the house, and do what you are told. When they ask, just say that you believe you are ready for a movie like this and that you would appreciate a chance to try and show them you can handle it. They will be impressed by how maturely you want to handle the matter.
