This is the area where the resident had concern.

A hole near Pat’s Place thrift store became cause for concern when a resident reported tripping in falling in the location.  Marcelo Orta at the Hollister’s Public Works Department said that he received a call from tha citizen about the large sinkhole near Pat’s Place, 101 Fifth St.

When he went to inspect the hole, however, Orta realized that it is located in the parkway – the area between the gutter and the curb of the sidewalk. Parkways are actually the responsibility of the building owner, not the city, he said.

Pat St. John, at Pat’s Place, said that luckily the person who fell is not seriously hurt. She rents the building, but she said she’d contact the owners to see about getting the hole fixed. Unfortunately, the store itself doesn’t have the funds to fix the hole immediately, but they do want to fix it as soon as possible.

“The main concern is that no one else gets hurt,” St. John said.
